A stichus (plural: sticha) is an insect-like creature in Torment: Tides of Numenera.
Physical description[edit | edit source]
The stichus is insect-like, and equipped with claws. It also emits an electrical charge.
Habitat and diet[edit | edit source]
The stichus lives underground, perpetually digging for shelter as well as food. It prefers hard rock, since it eats the sparks created when its claws hit stone. A Stichus may survive by consuming the electrical charge from Numenera and other devices.
Reproduction[edit | edit source]
The stichus lays eggs which have an electrical charge. They are quite valuable.
Communication[edit | edit source]
The stichus language is composed of a mixture of pheromones, gestures, and clicking sounds.
Relationship with humans[edit | edit source]
While not aggressive against humans (or any other somewhat peaceful species), a stichus' acts may lead to the loss of human lives. Sticha value humans the same way as humans value insects; they don't consider them to be sentient because they see humans as a dissonant species, unable to truly coexist.
