Planescape: Torment is a video game developed by Black Isle Studios and published by Interplay on December 12, 1999. It was set in the Planescape campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons and is the spiritual predecessor to the Torment: Tides of Numenera game set in the Numenera world. Thus it is the first game of the Torment series.

Several member of the Torment: Tides of Numenera development team took part in the elaboration of Planescape: Torment. Their role on Torment: Tides of Numenera is indicated between brackets.

Easter Eggs in Torment: Tides of Numenera[ | ]

  • Adahn: A character created by the player through the power of belief in Planescape: Torment, and one of the names of the Changing God in Torment: Tides of Numenera.
  • Cranium rats: In the Memovira's Courtyard, if the player interact two times with the sulcus at the base of the central pylon, a memory will trigger, mentioning psychic rodents with powers increasing as they are more numerous. The cranium rats can be described the same way in Planescape: Torment.
  • Bronze Sphere: An important quest item in both games.
  • O: The exact same character (not just a copy) is present in both games.
