Master Artisan is a character in Torment: Tides of Numenera.

Background[ | ]

The Master Artisan is a large, ancient construct, about twice the size of a human. It looks as though it was built for heavy labor, but it's now frozen in place, as if shut down in the midst of its work. At first glance, this ancient, unmoving construct seems nearly identical to the others in the manufactory. It is only when you move close, into the hazy aura of forgelight, that you see the intricate - no, chaotic - whorls of engravings marking every millimeter of its armored frame. And the worker standing behind it is adding even more.

The reason for it is that the Artisan is actually alive in there, but blind. To give feedback to the craftsmen of the Manufactory, he simply asks them to etch their designs into his armor so that he can feel them - most curiously, he doesn't seem to mind being blind, as it allowed him to see wondrous patterns and designs he otherwise never would have witnessed.
